Meta Expands Hyperscape VR with Shared Digital Replicas and Social Features
Meta has unveiled Hyperscape Capture (Beta), a new tool allowing users to convert physical spaces into photorealistic VR environments using Quest 3 or 3S headsets. The feature, announced at Meta Connect, eliminates the need for expensive camera equipment, democratizing immersive content creation.
The platform now supports shared social experiences, enabling up to eight users to collaborate in a single VR space. Access is granted via shareable links distributed through mainstream messaging apps, with age restrictions and revocable permissions ensuring controlled environments.
Notable digital replicas already available include celebrity spaces like Gordon Ramsay's kitchen and UFC's Apex arena, demonstrating the technology's versatility for both personal and professional applications. Meta plans to roll out shared space functionality gradually this week through its Horizon ecosystem.
